La ministra de Gobierno Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, realizó este martes un recorrido por las instalaciones del Centro Logístico Regional de Asistencia Humanitaria (CLRAH), desde donde se ha estado enviando toneladas de medicamentos, productos de higiene y equipos de protección personal contra la pandemia de COVID-19 a 24 países de América Latina y el Caribe.
El Hub Humanitario, ubicado en la ribera Pacífica del Canal de Panamá, es un gran complejo que alberga las bodegas humanitarias de la Federación Internacional de la Cruz Roja y Media Luna Roja, el Depósito de Respuesta Humanitaria de las Naciones Unidas, coordinado por el Programa Mundial de Alimentos y la bodega humanitaria de la República de Panamá, dirigido por el Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil.
El Centro Logístico Regional, adscrito al Ministerio de Gobierno, coordinó desde el pasado 23 de marzo con sus usuarios, la activación de las instalaciones para las respectivas operaciones humanitarias a países de América Latina y el Caribe.
La Cruz Roja ha enviado desde Panamá protección personal para sus asociados y representantes en 20 países, dedicados a la prevención, mitigación y control del Covid 19, mientras que las Naciones Unidas, a petición de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud, ha enviado ayuda a unos 25 países de la región, incluyendo a Panamá.
Recientemente, salió un vuelo del “Hub Humanitario”, hacia Ecuador con un experto médico y asesor regional del Programa de Emergencias y Desastres de la OPS, con insumos médicos y de protección personal contra el contagio del nuevo coronavirus.
También, ha colaborado con el Gobierno Nacional en la facilitación de las infraestructuras mediante la activación de la bodega Humanitaria de Panamá, que administra el Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil y el asesoramiento logístico especializado.
De igual manera, ha coordinado con su usuario internacional de las Naciones Unidas, el depósito de Respuesta Humanitaria para que sus bodegas coadyuven con las labores de recepción, almacenamiento y distribución de “Kits básicos de seguridad sanitaria”, que se realizan en el marco del Plan Panamá Solidario.
Es importante destacar que la plataforma de gestión panameña, la única en la región y la sexta en el mundo, ha facilitado información y comunicaciones entre el Estado y la comunidad logística humanitaria para fortalecer la respuesta internacional.
