Panamá 5 de diciembre de 2017. La Vicepresidenta y Ministra de Relaciones Exteriores, Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado y el Ministro de Gobierno encargado, Carlos Rubio, realizaron un recorrido por las obras de construcción del Centro Logístico Regional de Asistencia Humanitaria (Hub Humanitario) que tienen un 35% de avance.
Las autoridades recorrieron el edificio que albergará las oficinas administrativas que ya cuenta con un 74% de avance, además de las instalaciones donde operará el Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil (SINAPROC).
A través del Hub Humanitario, Panamá pone al servicio de la región su posición geográfica y plataforma logística para ofrecer una respuesta humanitaria con la entrega oportuna de ayuda en caso de desastres naturales y catástrofes a los países de América Latina y el Caribe.
La Vicepresidenta y Ministra de Relaciones Exteriores, Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado agradeció al equipo de trabajo del Hub Humanitario por el importante avance que presenta la obra.
Mientras que el Ministro de Gobierno encargado, Carlos Rubio destacó que este Hub Humanitario pondrá a Panamá ante los ojos del mundo, no sólo por la asistencia humanitaria internacional; sino por la local.
Este es el primer Hub de la región y el quinto del mundo. Los otros cuatro están ubicados en España, Italia, Malasia y Emiratos Árabes Unidos.
El centro logístico estará ubicado en Panamá Pacífico sobre 6.12 hectáreas, contará con tres almacenes con capacidad de 12 mil metros cuadrados, un edificio administrativo, estacionamiento y manejo de carga y área de control.
Los tres usuarios fundadores de las instalaciones del Hub Humanitario son: SINAPROC, el Depósito de Respuesta Humanitaria de las Naciones Unidas (UNHRD) y la Federación Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja (IFRCO).
También participó de este recorrido la viceministra de Asuntos Multilaterales y Cooperación del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, María Luisa Navarro y el coordinador del Centro Logístico Regional de Asistencia Humanitaria, Carlos Gómez.
